Holiday Showing
Hooray! I crocheted a scarf!

Alrighty- here is the project I have been working on. It is a scarf. It is really very basic, but as you can see I am thrilled to have completed it. As you can see I am sporting a matching knitted hat, that I can not take credit for. My friend Catherine and I stumbled upon a random craft fair one day this fall, and there was a cute little old lady there, selling her wares. I purchased the hat because I feel very drawn to this color scheme lately... pinks, browns, greens.... (ok- not lately... all the time :) and also because the lady was just so darn cute (and proud!), I just could not resist. This clearly is not a hat that I will wear all of the time, but find it very seasonal, and functional. About one week later, I happened to come across the yarn used to make this hat in a local craft store. Of course I couldn't resist that either, and made a thrifty purchase of this acrylic yarn that ran me about $2.50. I figured it was a great starting point. So I hurried home, dug out my Nani's old crochet hook, fired up my laptop, and found this tutorial on youtube (see previous post). It did not take long to get the hang of it. I only had to re-teach myself, really... as I know I used to be able to crochet when I was younger. I found the tutorial helpful, and before long had created this matching accessory to my cute new hat. Can't you just picture me sitting there diligently stitching away?? Too funny... but still am looking forward to my next youtube project :)

Garden and dresser
On Saturday morning, I decided to go for a run with my buddy Beth, and Noah decided to combine two small and relatively close gardens into one larger one on our front lawn. He started by removing our annoying weed infested turf, and turning the soil in a plot shaped like a jelly-bean (yum! I wish we were growing jelly beans!) He then edged the garden with brick and black plastic edging from Lowes. Taking time out only to watch team USA play in the World Cup, he left me to put a second coat of stain on a dresser we bought at The Mill Store in Scarborough several weeks ago. Of course he returned to his garden after the game :)
Noah had done the first coat of stain last weekend... and even though we could have coated it again sooner- we chose to use it as 'an indoor activity for a rainy day'. The dresser needed an easy buff done, so I used an extremely find grained sandpaper, and went to town. After a quick wipe away of dust, the dresser was ready for coat number two! I enjoy the light honey tone we used, and will go great in our new bedroom. We opted to purchase knobs to our liking, as the knobs that were included seemed boring to us. The new knobs are nickel, and match our new room well also!
Now if only I could figure out how to post these pics.... stay tuned!

Welcome to our Blog!!
Hooray!!! It is the summer of 2010, and oh so much happening! I am thrilled to be getting my little side business up and running again, as we have been taking a breather for about a year and a half. In that time, there have been more home improvement projects going on than fun sewing projects :) Although I try to incorporate the 2 whenever possible. I have learned many new skills from my handsome and talented husband (oh yea! I got married too!!), it has made me think differently about my business, my approach, and really what I would like to focus on... as well how I would like FollowMeDesigns to be perceived. As we start to wrap up a year's worth of home renovations, and reflect on them, I will be posting pictoral progress with comments hopefully in the sequence that our happy-happenings all took place :)
I look forward to keeping this blog about daily projects and happenings. Some fun summer projects to be looking forward to are.... family and friends, running and training, quilting, some hand-sewing, gardening, bead work, bag making, accessorizing, wedding planning (with my future Sis to be- and my younger brother.. Such a cutsie cutsie couple!!) some traveling, and wedding attending!! (WAAAHHOOOOO!!! so glad my turn with that is done! It was a lovely day- one I will always cherish, and looking forward to never repeating again!!)
Since I am a teacher, I will shortly be wrapping this incredible first year at Gray-New Gloucester Middle School, and for the first time in 13 years not have to work over my two and a half month vacation! Summer 2010 here I come!

Welcome to our Blog!!
Thanks for finding your way to our new home online! This business is a labor of homemade love. Follow Me Designs has developed from the prior Follow Me Bags. My sewing has been on hiatus for about a year and a half, and in that time I got married, took a new (full-time teaching) job, and have undergone some major home renovations... ah.. the life of a newlywed ;)
Even though I am excited to have Follow Me Designs back up and running, I am also happy to be creating some new projects. I think you will enjoy the new and natural look. Some new products will reflect some of my favorite and perhaps trendy pass-times, and will include quilts, running and yoga accessories, wedding and formal items, everyday wear, baby gear, home improvement projects, outdoorsy things, and of course BAGS! I have created an Etsy page with PayPal to better serve your needs.
Thanks for checking in, and as usual please don’t hesitate to jot me a line!
